Torino-Milan 1-2, our ratings for the Rossoneri’s Serie A opener
Torino-AC Milan opens Ruben Amorim’s experience in charge of the Rossoneri and both teams’ Serie A campaign, as they face each other on the opening matchday of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season.
An excellent AC Milan dominated the first half, building play and creating potential chances without managing to make a real impact around Mascardi’s goal until Chukwueze’s shot just after the half-hour mark.
Cissé finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with a wonderful curling finish from Rabiot’s assist. Just a minute later, the Frenchman doubled Milan’s lead with a magnificent run to the far post, finishing off another delicious ball from Rabiot.
Adams pulled one back in the 93rd minute with a superb finish.
Maignan 6
Barely called into action in the first half and only shown on camera for an offside decision, Maignan was seen a little more often after the break, especially when Njie smashed the post from close range after Milan had gone 2-0 up. He could do nothing about Adams’ goal.
Gila 6.5
Aggressive, determined and no-nonsense. This is exactly what was expected from him, and that is precisely what he delivered. Forced off with cramps.
Gabbia 6 (from 76′)
Tasked with helping manage the result, he did so well, especially considering Njie’s explosive introduction, which made him difficult to contain.
De Winter 6
Alert and composed, he made two important interventions early on to make up for defensive lapses, one of which was his own. The rest of the match was routine for him, but his constant concentration deserves credit.
Pavlovic 6.5
Strong in his marking, focused on the basics and delivered an excellent, mistake-free performance.
Chukwueze 7
Frequently involved during the opening stages, although initially inaccurate, including a risky lazy pass inside his own penalty area. He grew into the match as the minutes passed, bursting down the flank a couple of times before really coming alive around the half-hour mark.
He took matters into his own hands after Loftus-Cheek’s pass, producing a sublime move between three opponents before shooting too centrally. He then put a delicious ball onto Cissé’s head, although his teammate could not direct it towards the target.
He faded as the match progressed, which is why Amorim eventually moved him further forward in the closing stages.
Musah 6
Excellent after just a few seconds, using a vertical movement to evade his opponents. He delivered a solid performance overall, although he visibly ran out of energy towards the end.
Jashari 6
His task was to provide order and dictate the play. He certainly delivered on the first aspect, although he struggled a little more with the second during the opening half.
Modric 6 (from 56′)
Milan needed more quality, Amorim called upon him and he did what was required.
Estupiñán 6
He immediately looked involved in the game, before almost sending Vlasic through with a mistake that Pavlovic had to clean up. He made some good forward runs, arriving a little late at times but steadily increasing his involvement in both attack and defence.
In the second half, he struggled against Pedersen’s pace, but made up for it with a superb goal-line intervention to deny Simeone from point-blank range.
Bartesaghi 6 (from 65′)
A conventional change on the left, he immediately made a good run in behind but missed the opportunity to shoot. He then set up Ramos for a shot before settling into routine duties.
Loftus-Cheek 6
Right from the start, he looked to be operating at a different pace from everyone else. Within a minute, he tore through the midfield and set up Cissé with a chance to take the lead, before bursting forward again and creating an interesting opportunity for Ramos, whose shot was blocked.
Before the half-hour mark, he had two more half-chances to do damage and then teed up Chukwueze for a shot after combining perfectly with his teammate.
He started the second half well, but his yellow card in the 53rd minute changed the game for him and ultimately led to his substitution.
Rabiot 8 (from 56′)
Amorim deployed him as the left-sided attacking midfielder. With his first two touches, he provided the assist for Cissé and, just a minute later, showed the textbook movement of a midfield runner to create the second goal.
He took four extra days of holiday and then made an incredibly punctual, monstrous impact.
Cissé 7.5
Just a few seconds in, he arrived only slightly too late to meet Loftus-Cheek’s ball. He then won possession high up the pitch with his pressing and tried to return the favour to his teammate, who did not attack the six-yard box.
He was heavily involved, constantly offering himself and looking to combine with his teammates. Around the half-hour mark, he won the ball back in the opposition box once again and tried a curling effort that was deflected behind for a corner.
A few seconds later, he headed wide of the post from a good position and then wasted a counter-attack. Nevertheless, his first-half performance offered plenty of encouragement for both the present and the future.
And the second half was even better, as he broke the deadlock with the final ball he touched in the match, producing a wonderful curling finish into the top corner.
Yesterday Amorim said: “I love Cissé”… now we do too, Ruben.
Saelemaekers 6 (from 65′)
Came on after the 0-1 goal and immediately played a part in the second. He wasted a great chance to complete his hat-trick from Ramos’ assist.
He struggled more when switched with Chukwueze. His foul was also naive and led to the free-kick from which Torino scored their goal.
Ramos 6
He struggled at first against the physicality of Torino’s forwards, but gradually began to understand how to compete in Serie A and often dropped deeper to combine with his teammates.
He battled, won possession and dropped into midfield to participate in the build-up. There was never really an opportunity to put him in a position to shoot until the second half, when he tried first with a headed effort and then with a backheel.
Always active in the press, he showed great composure to put Saelemaekers through on goal. He is already heavily involved in the team’s play, and the goal will come soon. With performances like this, he can achieve great things.
He was late to react on Adams’ goal.
