According to numerous reports, Milan are set to sign Omari Hutchinson from Nottingham Forest on a one-year loan with the option to buy.
Earlier this week, Rafael Leão’s departure from Milan was finalized at last. In the following days, a replacement may already have been secured.
According to a number of sources, Milan have signed Omari Hutchinson from Nottingham Forest, with the move set to be formalized on deadline day.
As per Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano, Milan will pay four million euros for Hutchinson on a one-year loan, and will also cover his wages. It has been widely reported that Milan will then have the option to sign Hutchinson on a permanent basis, although there is a lack of information around the size of this fee.
Who is Omari Hutchinson?
At youth level, Hutchinson spent the bulk of his career at Arsenal, and gained recognition for his talent at the age of 12, in large part due to a YouTube collaboration with the F2 Freestylers. In 2022, Hutchinson was signed by Chelsea, and was loaned out to Ipswich Town, where he broke out at the seinor level, scoring 10 goals and assisting four in the Championship that season, as Ipswich gained promotion to the Premier League.
Ipswich signed Hutchinson on a permanent basis after his successful 2023–24 season, and although the team was relegated from the Premier League, Hutchinson was seen as one of its top performers, and subsequently earned a move to Nottingham Forest.
As Nottingham Forest went through four different head coaches and battled to avoid relegation to the Championship, Hutchinson would have a difficult debut season at the club.
According to The Athletic, Milan believe that Hutchinson could become more productive in Ruben Amorim’s more possession-based team, and the loan formula gives the club an opportunity to assess the talent, who turns 23 in October.
Unlike Rafael Leão, Omari Hutchinson is a left-footed who predominantly plays to the right. This is a profile Milan have been linked with for much of the summer, and could facilitate Christian Pulisic’s move to the left-sided attacking midfield role, which Ruben Amorim has also hinted at.
