Massimiliano Allegri said it himself in the press conference ahead of Pisa–Milan: “Rafa is feeling much better.” One month after his last start (Roma–Milan), the time may have come for him to return to the line-up from the first minute.
Rafael Leão is ready to return to the starting line-up for Milan against Como. After being managed over the last two matches and a far from convincing cameo appearance against Pisa, the Rossoneri’s No.10 is a strong candidate to start in tomorrow night’s delicate fixture against the “Lariani”, who are coming off a heavy home defeat to Fiorentina last Saturday.
The Options
Massimiliano Allegri intends to bring the forward back into the side and it remains to be seen whether he will opt for a partnership with Nkunku, as he has done on several occasions this season -including the reverse fixture in Como on 15 January- or whether he will instead flank him with a runner such as Loftus-Cheek, although that option currently appears less likely. The improving condition of Christian Pulisic gives the coaching staff the opportunity to rely once again on four attacking players, allowing them to plan Leão’s involvement with the idea of substituting him after around an hour, as happened in the first leg or against Roma.
