According to MilanVibes’ reporting, Milan have made significant steps towards extending Rafael Leão’s contract until 2030.
Rafael Leão and Milan, a love story heading beyond ten years?
The latest signals point in that direction. Strong indications from Casa Milan and from the Portuguese forward’s entourage suggest that a contract extension until 30 June 2030 is edging closer. After the renewals of Maignan and Saelemaekers, the mood around a long-term future with the Rossoneri’s No.10 has grown increasingly positive, with the foundations for prolonging his stay now firmly in place.
According to information gathered today, concrete steps have been taken and the parties are said to be close to a full agreement. The financial terms are not yet public but are not expected to differ significantly from the current deal, in line with the club’s wage ceiling while awaiting possible qualification for the Champions League. As reported recently by Gazzetta dello Sport, that threshold could be raised should Milan secure a place in Europe’s top competition, in order to boost the competitiveness of Allegri’s side.
Leão’s season
Leão currently stands on 10 goals for the season -nine in the league- alongside two assists from 20 starts. Now the tenth most efficient goalscorer in Milan’s history, he reached another personal landmark against Cremonese by scoring against every team he has faced in Serie A this campaign, while also moving up to 80 goals in Rossoneri colours.
Yet the clearest sign of his growth lies in the dressing room. His maturity is reflected in a shift of attitude -in interviews, on social media and on the pitch- and in a new capacity to lift those around him, from youngsters to senior figures. The celebrations dedicated to Fofana and Maignan after their mistakes against Genoa and Como were small but telling gestures: the mark of a player evolving into a leader, not just a scorer.
