Sources around the deal say Leon Goretzka has become a top summer target for AC Milan, with a free transfer scenario now on the table.

In a crucial phase of the season, as Serie A moves toward the finish line, summer transfer talk is already picking up. One name that is now being described as a concrete option for AC Milan is Leon Goretzka. According to multiple checks carried out by our newsroom in recent hours, there are fresh indications that the German midfielder is a priority for the Rossoneri, with the well known idea of a potential free transfer exit from Bayern Munich still central to the story.

Here is the current picture around the Goretzka to AC Milan track.

Why Allegri wants him and why free transfers are back on the table

The refinancing of the debt has effectively opened new financial scenarios for how AC Milan approach the transfer market. After what felt like a strategic freeze on signing players on a free transfer in recent windows, the direction now appears different. The club are more open to these opportunities, as long as the overall cost of the operation stays within internal limits.

It seems like Massimiliano Allegri rates Goretzka very highly. In Allegri’s football idea, he checks the boxes that matter: physicality, leadership, experience, late runs into the box, goals in his legs, and a tactical profile that allows the coach to adjust solutions match by match and even minute by minute.

A midfield with Goretzka, Modrić, and Rabiot might be a particularly appealing scenario for Allegri, who could rotate experienced high level players with the young prospects already developing within the current AC Milan squad. The German could be the first major reinforcement to push the team toward the next step, especially if Rossoneri qualify for the Champions League and the ambition is to bring trophies back to AC Milan.

AC Milan strategy and the competition to beat

Based on what we have gathered, Leon Goretzka is currently considered a top priority in AC Milan’s summer plan. The club are studying different ways to find the right formula to convince the player to choose the Rossoneri next season.

The leadership are aware they must move early to try to secure the 1995 born midfielder and avoid strong competition, both in Italy and abroad. Juventus might be a concrete domestic rival, while Atlético Madrid for now is the most serious foreign challenger.

With approval from the top level decision makers, AC Milan would be willing to accept significant commissions, as long as the overall costs of the deal remain within the club’s parameters.

The money and the timeline for a decision

The objective, as understood by the AC Milan Vibes market team, would be to offer a longer contract than competing clubs, while also guaranteeing a central role as a leader in the squad.

The salary package would sit around 4.5 to 5 million euros per year, plus potential bonuses.

Sources tell us that Goretzka’s final decision could arrive by the end of this month, or at the latest before the Club World Cup.

Goretzka’s season snapshot

This season, Goretzka has made 37 appearances for Bayern Munich. His usage has been particular, partly linked to the contract context.

In the Bundesliga, he started roughly 70 percent of his 24 league matches, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists. In the Champions League, he started only once, in the second leg against Atalanta, where he stood out in the deeper midfield role that Kompany has increasingly assigned to him.

With Germany, he started during this international break in the 3 to 4 win against Switzerland, and came on for the final half hour against Ghana.
